What can  job stewards do (or NOT do) to represent members at the work site? This is a thorough and practical course in the role and responsibilities of job stewards tailored to the unusual conditions of the entertainment industry. Taught  by Laura Ewan, partner in the law firm of Barnard, Iglitzin and Lavitt that represents IATSE Locals in Seattle (and assisted by Mylor Treneer, former Business Rep for Local 15)  students will learn how to advise members effectively in various types of situations  and will learn how to deal with difficult members. Students will become familiar with the basic concepts of just cause, insubordination, progressive discipline, duty of fair representation and the grievance process.

This class is a required class in the Local 15 Apprenticeship program.

The class will be conducted in Room 240 of the Labor Temple on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 9 am to 1 pm.
